VoIP Call Forwarding
Most service providers support VoIP call forwarding. Call forwarding is a feature that enables you to re-route incoming calls to a different telephone. This is a useful feature because it insures that you will not miss any calls, even if you are away from home.
Setting up call forwarding
Setting up call forwarding on a VoIP phone is easy. Like most features offered, VoIP call forwarding feature can be configured using the control panel supplied by the service providers. In the control panel, all you will have to do is put the phone number you would like to forward to in the call forwarding field.
VoIP Call forwarding can also be used as a privacy feature as well. Instead of forwarding a telephone call to another number, simply forward it to voice mail.
Remote Call Forwarding
Another handy feature of VoIP phone services is remote call forwarding. Remote call forwarding is the exact same thing as call forwarding except that it can be turned on and off when you are away from the telephone. With a VoIP control panel, turning call forwarding on or off can be done from any computer that has Internet access. This is useful because if you change location or phone numbers, you can change your call forwarding numbers to match your situation.
Why use call forwarding?
